About the museum

The museum is housed in the Waldensian temple of Ghigo, built in 1556 and the only place of worship in the area to have survived destruction during the religious wars of the 17th century. Next to it stands the modern temple, inaugurated in 1962, where services are held.

The route tells the story of the Waldensian community through its places of worship, from its clandestine medieval origins to the Reformation, from the persecutions of the 17th century to the rebuilding of the 18th century, and up to its opening to the world in the 20th century. The galleries host figures representing community life, while the display cases and the entrance room illustrate life in Prali: the municipality, the hamlet, agriculture, cuisine and the mine.

The museum has two rooms and is one of the museums in the Waldensian museum system coordinated by the Fondazione Centro Culturale Valdese.
