About the museum
The villa is located in the Parco Valentino, a wooded area at Piani dei Resinelli named after the industrialist from Lecco Valentino Gerosa Crotta. The park was bequeathed to the Touring Club Italiano, which in 1961 had the entrance arch built to a design by the architect Mario Cereghini. Villa and park are now owned by the Comunità Montana Lario Orientale Valle San Martino.
In 2016 the house museum was completely re-fitted with multimedia systems, following the idea of a sensory experience and educational entertainment. The building also serves as the park’s visitor centre.
The permanent route is divided into six themed rooms, where video projections, sound experiences and interactive tables present the landscape, geology, flora, fauna and the mountaineering history of the Grigne, in an environment ranging from 900 to 2,500 metres. The photographs are by Mauro Lanfranchi and Gianfranco Scieghi, and the historical images come from the Montagne di Scatti archive. At Piani dei Resinelli, the visit can be combined with a circular walk in the park.
