About the museum
Nuraghe Adoni stands on a hill at about 811 metres above sea level, in the territory of Villanova Tulo, on the border between the Sarcidano and the Barbagia di Seùlo. From here the view extends over much of southern Sardinia. The complex dates to the 2nd millennium BC, the Bronze Age, and consists of a central tower (mastio) and a quadrilobate bastion, enclosed by a massive wall.
A village of huts extends to the east of the nuraghe. The parts of the bastion show a masonry technique different from that of the central tower, a sign of later construction. Excavations have partly freed the tower from collapsed debris and yielded pottery and a fragment of bronze, the handle of a jug of the so-called beak-spouted type (Schnabelkanne).
The first investigations date back to the mid-19th century and were resumed several times in the 1990s.
