About the museum
The Palazzo Baronale in Vernole was built between 1762 and 1766, as shown by the dates carved on two window lintels. It belonged to the Bernardini family, the last feudal lords of Vernole until 1806.
The building has two storeys, with corner columns topped by floral capitals. On the upper floor a large central doorway with a balcony opens, flanked by four windows decorated with floral motifs; the most distinctive feature is the large rusticated portal. According to national museum data, the palazzo houses a local history museum, and a living nativity scene (presepe vivente) is held there at the end of the year.
