About the museum

The Parco di Pinocchio is located at Collodi, a hamlet of Pescia, the village where Carlo Lorenzini spent part of his childhood and from which he took the pen name “Collodi”, under which he signed “Le avventure di Pinocchio” (The Adventures of Pinocchio). The park is owned by the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi, which runs it together with the interactive museum and the adventure trails.

The monumental route was conceived as a surprise walk along the stages of the story. It opens with two works that sum up the tale, the monument “Pinocchio e la Fata” by Emilio Greco and the Piazzetta dei Mosaici by Venturino Venturi, and continues among sculptures, buildings and green areas created by major 20th-century artists, including Pietro Consagra, up to the Grande Pescecane by Zanuso. In total it comprises 21 bronze and steel sculptures.

Alongside the outdoor route, the Interactive Museum, founded in 2000, invites visitors to reconstruct the fairy tale through play, while the Museo del Parco (Laboratorio delle Figure) and the Sala del Grillo Parlante (Talking Cricket Room) host thematic exhibitions on Pinocchio and a virtual library with editions of the book from around the world.
