About the museum
Libero Andreotti was born in Pescia in 1875 and died in Florence in 1933. He began as an illustrator and then established himself as a sculptor, with portraits, allegorical figures, bas-reliefs and monuments, known for the expressiveness of faces and gestures. After his death the family donated to his native town the plaster models that had remained in his studio.
The museum was opened in 1992 in the 14th-century Palazzo del Podestà, in Piazza del Palagio, and holds about 230 plasters, including the models of works such as “La Giustizia e la Fortezza”, “La Madre Patria”, “Pomona”, “Flora” and “Affrico e Mensola”. It is considered one of the most complete plaster-cast collections in Tuscany.
Besides the plasters, the palace houses drawings and the Archivio Andreotti, with letters, manuscripts and a photographic library. The venue is part of Pescia’s museum network, with a combined ticket that also includes the Museo Palazzo Galeotti.
