About the museum
The park is in Seano, a hamlet of Carmignano, the town where the sculptor Quinto Martini (1908–1990) was born and grew up. It was opened in 1988, while the artist was still alive, and is presented as a work that is both anthology and biography: a route that tells the story of his artistic development and, in many sculptures, the people and everyday life of the area.
Martini took an active part in creating the park. He chose the works he considered most important and most suitable for the site, followed the bronze casting stages and worked with the architect Ettore Chelazzi on the arrangement of the statues outdoors, set on brick pedestals. What had been a simple triangular field between the old village core and the new urban expansion has thus become a public space devoted to art and to strolling.
The park covers about 31,500 m² and holds 36 bronze sculptures and reliefs, cast from works created between 1931 and 1988, many of them showing scenes of rural life. Nearby is the artist’s studio house, which can be visited separately and has been open to the public since December 2020.
