About the museum
The Raccolta di opere d’arte Antica Farmacia Giuli is located in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, the main square inside the castle of Cerreto d’Esi, and is run by the municipality. It brings together works by artists active in the Marche between the 15th and 18th centuries; for many of them the municipality’s listing gives the church or building of origin, in some cases with the word “già” (formerly), a sign of a heritage that comes from the local area.
Among the oldest pieces are a triptych attributed to the Master of San Verecondo (1403?), the Annunciation by Pietro Alamanno of 1482 and a reliquary cross on a staff by Antonio di Agostino da Fabriano, datable to around 1480. There is also the Madonna and Child in glory among angels by Ercole Ramazzani (1530–1598) and several canvases by anonymous Marche painters of the 17th and 18th centuries.
