About the museum
The Sale d'Arte in Alessandria house a museum route renewed in its furnishings and display structures, which presents some of the most important artworks and objects in the collections of the Museo and of the Pinacoteca civica. They are run by the municipal company ASM Costruire Insieme on behalf of the municipality.
The route is organised in display sections. The section “Il Medioevo e la civiltà comunale” (the Middle Ages and the communal era) reflects on the civic identity of the city and its roots, and houses a fresco cycle inspired by the stories of King Arthur. The other rooms are dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
The growth of the collections from the second half of the 19th century onwards testifies to the close bond between the city and its museum. The Sale d'Arte are regarded as the hub of cultural information in Alessandria and a place of memory and of valuing the present.
