About the museum
The open-air department “Sēļu sēta” presents six 19th-century rural buildings from Augšzeme: a dwelling house, a granary, a small barn, a smithy, windmills and a sauna. The architecture and layout of the buildings reflect the old skills of crafts and construction.
Also on display are the tools and household objects of a moderately prosperous farmer of the Sēlija region from the 19th century. The craft house has an exhibition on craft traditions in Sēlija, and various practical classes and masterclasses take place there.
