About the museum
The centre is housed in a modern building that incorporates a restored old granary. It includes the glass exhibition “Līvānu stikla muzejs” with products from the Līvāni glass factory, which operated from 1887 to 2008. The collection has been in its present location since 2013.
The centre has a glass-blowing workshop where visitors can watch the glassblowers at work. The tradition of glass blowing in Līvāni is included in the Latvian intangible cultural heritage list. In addition to the exhibition “Amatnieki Latgalē 19.–20. gs.”, the longest folk sash in Latvia can be seen. Other craftspeople from Latgale also work at the centre, and visitors can try out crafts themselves.
