About the museum
The museum is in the former servants’ house of Krāslava Palace, at 8 Pils Street. The neighbouring building at 10 Pils Street houses an exhibition hall and open storage.
The museum’s collection holds around 27,000 objects that tell of the history of Krāslava municipality from ancient times to the present day. The art collection has more than 1,000 works, among them works by artists of the region and of Latvia, such as Pāvils Glaudāns and Vanda Zēvalde. A new art exhibition opens in the exhibition hall every two months, and exhibitions of Krāslava artists have become a tradition.
