About the museum
The Battles of Mores took place from 25 September to 6 October 1944 on the Sigulda defence line, where soldiers of the Latvian Legion halted the advance of the Red Army towards Rīga. To commemorate the battles, memorial sites were created in Mores parish: the graves of fallen Latvian legionnaires and Soviet soldiers, the Mores Battles memorial park with trenches and bunkers, and the museum.
The first exhibition, “Kalna Kaņēnos”, was set up in 2002 from objects and documents found on the battlefield. In 2006 the association “Mores muzejs” was founded to maintain the museum. The founder of the museum and military history researcher Antons Bračs died in 2024; a memorial exhibition in his honour has been set up on the first floor of the museum.
