About the museum
The permanent historical exhibition tells of the resistance of residents of the former Cēsis district to the Soviet and Nazi occupation powers from 1940 to 1957. The exhibition is set up in a former Soviet temporary detention cell and, with the help of documents, objects and personal stories, honours the people who fought for Latvia's freedom.
The exhibition building is closed in winter, but visits are still possible: an employee of the Cēsu viduslaiku pils (Cēsis Medieval Castle) opens the doors by arrangement.
