About the museum
The Ziemeļu dabas medicīnas muzejs (Northern Natural Medicine Museum) was set up by the Vides risinājumu institūts (Environmental Solutions Institute). The exhibition explores the connection between plants, health and well-being: it introduces the history of medicinal plants in Latvia and the world, shows how plants act on the human organ systems, and tells of the extraction of essential oils and plant extracts.
In the museum you can not only see and smell medicinal plants, but also examine them under a powerful microscope and test your knowledge in interactive quizzes. The museum shop sells essential oils, hydrolats, seeds of medicinal plants and books. Card payment is possible.
