About the museum
“The Typewriter Museum” is an association whose aim is to popularise the cultural-historical heritage of typewriting through digital content and on-site events. It describes itself as the only typewriter museum in Latvia.
The association collects typewriters that would otherwise end up in waste or rust in attics, and gradually photographs the collection and publishes it on its website. For two years it held typewriter exhibitions in Riga; now the exhibition room and the storage with a repair workshop are at Sergeja Eizenšteina iela 59A. Visitors can view and try out the typewriters and print postcards.
The exhibition room is open at announced event times, often on the evenings of the last Thursday of the month, or by prior registration. After registration you can also visit the typewriter storage and the repair workshop, where typewriters that are not part of the regular exhibitions can be seen and you can learn how they are repaired.
