About the museum
The Eugenijaus ir Leonardo Matuzevičių memorialinis muziejus (Eugenijus and Leonardas Matuzevičius Memorial Museum) is located in Krinčinas, in the house built in 1928–1929 by the pharmacist Vilius Matuzevičius, where the two poet brothers lived. In 1987–1994 the poet Eugenijus Matuzevičius set up a creative dwelling under the small tower of the house; he rested and wrote here, and in this dwelling he compiled his last two poetry books, “Jau sparno nenumes” and “Sugrįžimų tyla” (The Silence of Returns).
After the poet’s death in 1994 the homestead was declared a memorial, and a branch of the Pasvalio krašto muziejus (Pasvalys Regional Museum) operates here. The museum has a permanent exhibition reflecting the creative path of both poet brothers. Every late June the traditional poetry festival “Krinčino verdenės” takes place in the museum garden, where writers from Pasvalys and neighbouring districts of Northern Lithuania read their work.
