About the museum
The Puziniškis Museum is the birthplace of Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė, a well-known cultural and public figure, teacher and writer. The manor farmstead is a Lithuanian cultural monument. Since 1987 the museum has been looked after by the public library of the Panevėžys District Municipality. In 2009 the building was reconstructed with European Union funds; the renovated museum recalls the spirit of that era, reveals important facts of the nation's cultural history and tells the story of the writer's life. Cultural events are held at the Puziniškis manor, and since 1983 the G. Petkevičaitė-Bitė Literary Prize has been awarded.
