About the museum
The Lietuvos policijos muziejus (Lithuanian Police Museum) tells of the founding, development, restoration and changes of the Lithuanian police up to the modern organisation. The history is presented through memorable objects, officers’ accounts and well-known investigations.
The exhibition shows firearms, special protective equipment, radio communication and speed-control devices, service uniforms and awards of various periods, as well as the historic BMW 1150 RT service motorcycle, which escorted the convoy of the visit of the US President George W. Bush on 22–23 November 2002. An interactive exhibition tells of the Panevėžys officers killed by the “Tulpiniai” criminal organisation, using transparent active glass and 3D hologram animation. In 360-degree light boxes the national revival of Lithuania and the transition from the militia to the police are shown.
Visitors can try 360-degree virtual reality films about the operation of the anti-terrorist unit “Aras” and about a service dog handler who apprehends criminals, as well as a magnetic puzzle about police transport.
