About the museum
Full Steam Museum is housed in Bangsundbrygga in central Tromsø, a wharf from 1902 that was originally built for receiving fish. The museum calls itself the world's northernmost coastal museum and is run by Full Steam Activity AS, which also has a restaurant and bar in the building.
The exhibitions include a maritime museum on the life and work of seafarers and fishermen, and on maritime history and fishing history; a northern lights exhibition with pictures and film about the science, culture and myths of the phenomenon; and a Sea Sámi exhibition on the second floor about the Sea Sámi of Northern Norway and their relationship to the sea.
