About the museum
Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum was founded in 1985 and has exhibition venues in Tromsø, Bodø and Longyearbyen. The head administration is located at Sjøgata 1 in Tromsø. The collection comprises 2,225 works by artists from the 17th century to today, with a growing share of Sámi dáiddárer (artists) and duojárer (duodji craftspeople).
Each year the museum lends works from the collection to temporary exhibitions in Norway and abroad, with particular emphasis on Northern Norway. The offer includes guided tours, art encounters, workshops, lectures and events for different target groups, including schools and nurseries, group visits, Kunstalliansen and RELÆXT.
