About the museum
Granvin bygdemuseum was founded in the 1930s, and the buildings were moved to Eide in Granvin in the 1980s. Six buildings stand around a farmyard, and they house several collections and exhibitions. The oldest building is Holvenstova, a large parlour (storstue) from the 1700s.
In Løfalstova the prize and playing collection of the master fiddler Anders Kjerland is shown. The old Folkedal school has been set up at the farmyard and furnished with school materials from different periods. The museum also has an exhibition on bunad (traditional Norwegian costume) and Johan Havaas' botanical collection. The museum is run by Hardanger og Voss museum.
