About the museum

Naturmuseet in Sykkylven is part of Viti and shows how plants, animals and birds together shape the natural landscape of Sunnmøre. The museum is located in Storgata in Sykkylven and has a joint ticket with Møbelmuseet.

The main exhibition, MOSAIKK, shows the diversity of nature, animal and bird life in the coastal fjords of Sunnmøre. The exhibition spans a wide range of time and tells stories of plants, animals and birds, of dramatic events on the edge of the inland ice, of birds that swim and wade, of cunning hunters and industrious collectors.

The Naturmuseet also shows temporary exhibitions linked to various themes. Fur farming, for example, is prohibited in Norway today, but its history is preserved in the museums.
