About the museum
Norsk Motorhistorisk Senter is at Burud in Øvre Eiker, in the old Burudmoen garage complex. In February 2008 the municipal council of Øvre Eiker agreed a cooperation agreement with Motorhistorisk Klubb Drammen to establish a motor history centre, which was to offer exhibition space and storage for restored vehicles and objects under restoration. In 2018 the club and the municipality set up the foundation Norsk Motorhistorisk Senter, and the municipality transferred the property to the foundation.
The centre is largely run by volunteers from Motorhistorisk Klubb Drammen, and several marque clubs have activities linked to the centre. It is meant to be a meeting place for motor history enthusiasts in Eastern Norway, with workshop facilities for people who have vintage vehicles as a hobby, and a place where young people can get help with tinkering.
An important part of the centre is an experience centre with period displays from the 1950s and 60s, focusing on the dreams of prosperity most people had in that period. Objects, music and pictures are shown here, and the buildings on the site include a petrol station, a workshop, a taxi hut and a telephone kiosk. The club has also fitted out a small museum, and the parts store holds many thousands of parts, especially for Ford models from the 1980s and 1990s.
