About the museum
Odalstunet is a local museum for Nord-Odal and Sør-Odal. Older houses from different parts of the two rural districts have been gathered here, and some of them are very old, dating from the middle of the 1700s. The first thing you encounter is a large farmyard with the main buildings that belonged to a big farm. Further into the site are the cotter's farm (husmannsplass) and two buildings that had important roles in the old farming society: the smithy and the kjone. The grain store that once stood at Strøm church has also been moved here.
The museum was run by an association founded in 1948, and all the buildings, tools and equipment were donated. Today Odalstunet is run by Anno museum in cooperation with the board of Odalstunet. The museum also includes Skålbergsætra (a mountain summer farm, seter) and Sagstua school museum, which have their own opening hours.
