About the museum
Øksnes Museum is in Alsvåg, and its most important building is the main farm, Alsvåggården. The history of the house goes back at least 450 years, perhaps longer, and it is regarded as one of Northern Norway's oldest timber buildings. Over time the building has had various functions, including as a trading post in Alsvåg.
On the museum grounds there is also a modern exhibition building with a new exhibition every summer, and the old shop Krambua, which can also be visited. The museum is part of Museum Nord.
