About the museum
Risøyhamn bygdetun on Andøya consists of five historic buildings: Børvågstua, Lensmannsgården, Nilsengården, the boathouse (naust) and the cowshed (fjøset). In the boathouse lies the large boat “Haakon”, a 14-metre boat built in Helgeland in 1880 that is linked to the Risøyrenna.
In Lensmannsgården (the sheriff's house) the exhibition “Operasjoner og ekspedisjoner – andværinger i krig og fred” (Operations and Expeditions – People of Andøya in War and Peace) opened on 8 May 2025. It is about people from Andøya in war and peace.
Every July the Risøyhamn-martnaden is held, with stalls, food and open houses. The rural heritage farmstead is part of Andøymuseet, which is run by Museum Nord.
