About the museum
The museum has operated since 2004 on the site of a former secret test range for the German V-3 weapon, on the island of Wolin in Zalesie near Międzyzdroje. Work on the range began in 1943, and multi-chamber long-range guns were installed on the site. Concrete firing positions and the bunker in which the shells were stored have survived to this day.
The exhibition is housed in this former ammunition store. According to the museum, it is the only exhibition devoted to the V-3 weapon in Poland and the second in Europe. Near the bunker you can see the remains of firing positions whose elements are said to be about 130 m long and to weigh 76 tonnes.
Visits are guided, and the guide explains the history of the site as part of the ticket price. The museum also organises “living history lessons” and open-air events, and next to it there is a tourist information point of the Wolin National Park.
