About the museum

The Gminne Muzeum Kultury Duchowej i Materialnej Bojków was established by a resolution of the Solina Commune Council and operates on the basis of regulations agreed with the Minister of Culture. The institution presents the cultural diversity of the Bieszczady and collects objects linked to the former life of the surrounding villages, manors and small towns. It pays particular attention to the memory of the Boykos, former inhabitants of the Bieszczady, whose history was cut short in the mid-20th century. The museum marked ten years of activity in 2023.

The museum is financed by the Solina commune and run within the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury, Sportu i Turystyki w Solinie (Municipal Centre of Culture, Sport and Tourism in Solina). Since 2018 the offer has been enriched by the Regionalne Centrum Kultury (Regional Culture Centre), which was created thanks to the efforts of the commune and European funds. Its exhibition rooms show prewar photographs of a Bieszczady village, mementoes of the Wawrosz family, former owners of a holiday resort and estate in Myczków, and a collection of militaria from the First and Second World Wars.

The collections include former farm and household equipment, folk craft products, furniture, vessels and textiles from the period from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, as well as hand-made folk costumes, sacred objects from former Orthodox churches (liturgical vessels, tabernacles, fragments of an iconostasis), oleographs and archival collections.
