About the museum
The Izba Historii Regionu w Suszu (History Room of the Susz Region) opened on 14 September 2012 and is located at ul. św. Floriana 11. It is run by the Towarzystwo Miłośników Ziemi Suskiej (Society of Friends of the Land of Susz), which collects and preserves memorabilia relating to the history of the town, the region and its residents.
The exhibits come from donations and loans from residents of Susz and the surrounding area, as well as from the fieldwork of the society's members. The collections are historical and ethnographic in character and include, among other things, photographs, documents, everyday objects, agricultural tools, militaria and coins.
The room presents permanent and temporary exhibitions. Visitors can use the Biblioteczka Regionalna (regional library) free of charge, which holds several hundred volumes of books, maps, postcards and documents on the history of Susz and its surroundings. Regional publications and souvenirs can also be bought here. The society also carries out fieldwork and archive research, organises conferences and publishes books.
