About the museum

The Kopalnia Złota Aurelia (Aurelia Gold Mine) is a disused adit at the foot of a hill in Złotoryja, a town associated for centuries with the mining and washing of gold. The route was opened to visitors in the 1970s.

It is now visited in small groups of up to 10 people, with a guide. The route is about 100 m long and the walk takes about 20 minutes. The passages are low, narrow and damp, and the temperature underground is about +8°C. The workings are lit, and visitors are given hard hats.

In front of the entrance there are a car park, a picnic area and a playground. The mine is worth combining with a visit to the Muzeum Złota (Gold Museum) in the Old Town of Złotoryja, which is a separate institution.
