About the museum

The Małopolska Science Centre Cogiteon (Małopolskie Centrum Nauki Cogiteon) is a modern science centre in Kraków, located on Aleja gen. Bora-Komorowskiego, next to the historic runway of the former Rakowice-Czyżyny airport. It was built with the support of European Funds.

The main attraction is the permanent exhibition “Man and His Dreams” (Człowiek i jego marzenia): more than a hundred interactive devices designed by scientists, experts and artists, spread over more than 2200 m² in five rooms on level -1. The set design was prepared by the Kraków-based Koza Nostra Studio. Visitors choose their own route, and the rooms are devoted in turn to health and the body, relations between people, the world and the cosmos, the human impact on the Earth, and imagination and the future.

Apart from the exhibition, the centre runs six laboratories and workshop studios, the Children's Academy (Akademia Dzieci) with an educational play area for the youngest, an emotions zone, science shows and educational games. The building also houses a conference centre.

Admission & discounts

Tickets can be bought online, at the ticket offices and at the ticket machine on level -1; only a limited number of tickets is available at the ticket office. With a ticket to the Aviation Museum (Muzeum Lotnictwa) the Cogiteon ticket is PLN 5 cheaper, and with a Cogiteon ticket a 10% discount applies at the museum.

The building has lifts, toilets adapted to the needs of people with mobility impairments on each level, and an induction loop at the ticket office. All exhibition rooms are on one level without thresholds, and the width of the doors allows passage by wheelchair; the accessibility of individual exhibits depends on their character. A wheelchair can be borrowed after prior booking (tel. +48 12 314 93 55, dostepni@cogiteon.pl). At the main entrance there are 6 parking spaces for people with disabilities, and 4 in the underground car park.

The exhibition is recommended for children over 10; younger children can visit with a carer acting as a guide. For the youngest there is the Children's Academy with an educational play area. The parents' room has a baby changing table, a feeding chair and a play corner, and there is a playground by the building.

Getting there & parking

The centre lies about 3.5 km in a straight line from the railway and bus stations. The route runs from ul. Stella-Sawickiego or Aleja Jana Pawła II towards the Kwadrat club, along the runway of the former airport.
