About the museum
The Garden of Experiments named after Stanisław Lem (Ogród Doświadczeń im. Stanisława Lema) was created in September 2007 as the first educational park in Poland popularising physics. It is one of three branches of the Museum of Engineering and Technology in Kraków, a cultural institution of the City of Kraków, and its patron is the writer Stanisław Lem.
The garden covers six hectares of greenery at al. Pokoju. More than 110 large, original devices stand in the park, and visitors carry out experiments on them themselves. They are grouped into thematic zones: optics, hydrostatics, acoustics, mechanics and magnetism. In addition there are the Science Gym (Naukowa siłownia), the Out-of-This-World Playground (Odlotowy plac zabaw) with a six-metre rocket and slides, the Sand Planet (Piaskowa planeta) for younger children, and the Zapachowo zone.
The garden operates seasonally, usually from April to October; the 19th season ran from 20 April to 11 October 2026. For an additional fee you can use the planetarium (spherical cinema), the gyroscope and the bobsleigh run, and play outdoor games. The museum also runs workshops for kindergartens and schools, as well as birthday parties in the garden.
