About the museum
The Muzeum Dobranocek ze zbiorów Wojciecha Jamy (Bedtime Programmes Museum from the Collection of Wojciech Jama) was established in 2008 and opened to visitors on 22 March 2009. It arose from an idea of Wojciech Jama and on the basis of the exhibits he donated. It is located in the building at ul. Mickiewicza 13 in Rzeszów, next to the Teatr Maska.
The aim of the institution is to collect, protect and make available objects related to bedtime programmes, and to present the history of Polish and foreign animation for children, from the first evening children’s programmes on television. The first Polish bedtime programme was “Jacek i Agatka”, broadcast on 2 October 1962, and the last evening children’s programme on TVP’s Program 1 was aired on 30 August 2013.
The collection includes original puppets from films, designs, scripts, storyboards and animation cels, as well as everyday objects decorated with images of fairytale characters: toys, publications, ceramics, stamps, coins, packaging and films. The permanent exhibition shows, among others, puppets from puppet films made by the Se-Ma-For studio in Łódź, characters such as Miś Uszatek, Colargol, Pik-Pok, Bolek and Lolek, and figures from foreign productions. The museum also organises temporary exhibitions, workshops, meetings and screenings.
