About the museum
The Muzeum Komunikacji Miejskiej MPK-Łódź opened on 22 September 2006 on the initiative of the transport company MPK Łódź and with the support of the Club of Lovers of Old Trams in Łódź (Klub Miłośników Starych Tramwajów w Łodzi). It continues the traditions of the MPK Heritage Room (Izba Tradycji MPK), which operated from 1977. The seat is at ul. Wierzbowa 51.
The collections include photographs documenting more than a hundred years of urban transport in Łódź, tickets, information boards and tram fittings. The museum also has historic rolling stock, including cars of the Herbrand, Lilpop II and III, 5N and 5ND types; however, according to the museum's website, the rolling stock is currently not available to visitors.
The museum organises temporary exhibitions, a competition for the most interesting souvenir connected with public transport, and an annual fair of tickets and souvenirs of public transport.
