About the museum
The Muzeum Komunikacji Miejskiej, called the Izba Pamięci i Tradycji MPK Poznań (Memory and Tradition Room of MPK Poznań) on the carrier's website, is located in the oldest building of the Głogowska depot at ul. Głogowska. The building, dating from 1928–1929, was originally a transformer substation and served this function until the end of the 1960s. Later it housed staff welfare facilities, including a canteen.
The building was renovated in 2005 for the 125th anniversary of public transport in Poznań, and was then used for representative purposes. The museum opened on 31 January 2007, on the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Poznań Fast Tram (Poznański Szybki Tramwaj, PST) and the centenary of the Głogowska depot. The opening exhibition showed souvenirs relating to the construction and launch of this line, a model of a 1978 PST tram and archive film material from the resources of Telewizja Poznań.
Visitors are guided by a staff member, and moving around the grounds of the active depot is possible only in the staff member's company and after a short safety briefing.
