About the museum
The Muzeum Komunikacji w Paterku (Transport Museum in Paterek) was established in March 2011 on the basis of the historic bus collection of Artur Lemański. The collection gathers vehicles that ran in Poland from the 1970s to the 1990s, among them in Bydgoszcz and the area around Nakło nad Notecią.
The collection includes around thirty buses, among them the makes Jelcz, Škoda, Ikarus and Autosan. The owners emphasise that they hold the largest collection of Jelcz-Škoda buses in Poland, popularly called “ogórki” (gherkins), in city and intercity versions and in the liveries of urban transport (MPK/MZK) and PKS. Some vehicles have been restored and are in working order, and some have appeared in films.
Besides the vehicles, the museum collects old photographs, material on the history of bus transport in Bydgoszcz and Nakło, uniforms of drivers and old tickets. The museum is still being set up, so not all exhibits are open to visitors yet. The buses can also be hired for weddings and special trips.
