About the museum
The Muzeum Miasta Piastowa (Piastów City Museum) is run by the Piastowskie Archiwum Miejskie (PAM, Piastów City Archive), a municipal cultural institution established on 1 March 2017 by resolution of the Piastów City Council. By resolution of 21 January 2019 the councillors entrusted the running of the museum to PAM.
The institution collects, stores and makes available archival materials, collections and memorabilia relating to Piastów, its residents and the history of Poland. The main source of the collections is the residents themselves, who donate originals or copies or lend originals for digitisation. Among the items collected are archival materials, photographs, uniforms and badges. PAM also records the testimonies of residents in order to preserve the memory of the city’s development.
The museum has set up the Salonik Bogny i Jerzego Sokorskich, devoted to the opera singer and honorary citizen of Piastów, with original gowns and small everyday objects. The museum also shows a collection of porcelain, vinyl and plastic dolls, and it organises museum lessons and workshops on the history of Piastów, its streets and well-known residents.
