About the museum

The Municipal Museum in Górowo Iławeckie is run by the Historical and Collectors’ Association of the Górowo Land “Dreyse” (Stowarzyszenie Historyczno-Kolekcjonerskie Ziemi Górowskiej “Dreyse”), which brings together enthusiasts of history and searchers from the region. The institution is housed in a small premises at ul. Sikorskiego, with the entrance at the back of the former clinic building.

The collections include objects closely bound up with the history of the region: militaria, products of everyday technology, household equipment, photographs, coins and decorations. The museum also shows old pictures of the town and its surroundings. The association organises commemorative exhibitions, for example devoted to the battles for the town in February 1945, with exhibits found by its searchers.

The site has been awarded the label “Miejsce Przyjazne Rowerzystom” (“Cyclist-Friendly Place”) on the Eastern Green Velo cycle route.
