About the museum

The Muzeum Pamiątek Regionalnych w Jagodnem (Museum of Regional Mementos in Jagodne) was founded in 2003 on the initiative of the school's art circle, the teacher Jadwiga Rafalska-Kawalec and the school principal Beata Stefańska. The idea arose within the programme 'Świętokrzyskie – moja mała ojczyzna' ('Świętokrzyskie – my little homeland'). The first exhibits were donated by residents of Jagodne, Gadka and Tychów Stary. Mementos previously collected by history teachers were also added to the collection.

The museum is located in one of the rooms of the Szkoła Podstawowa (primary school) in Jagodne, in the Mirzec municipality, and is run at the school. For many years its activities were coordinated on a voluntary basis. The institution celebrated its tenth anniversary in November 2013 and later its fifteenth. The school and the museum jointly organise events, for example author meetings and the Noc Muzeów (Night of Museums).

The exhibits are arranged by theme. The collection includes old photographs, fittings from the former school, a collection of regional costumes, a weaving loom, interior decorations, household items, farm tools and military souvenirs from earlier years. Some of the mementos donated by Prof. Jan Władysław Woś are also on display.
