About the museum
The Muzeum Regionalne is run by the Towarzystwo Miłośników Piwnicznej (Piwniczna Friends Society) and is housed in the rooms of the Miejsko-Gminny Ośrodek Kultury (MGOK, Town and Commune Culture Centre) at Rynek 11 in Piwniczna-Zdrój. It holds collections relating to the history of the town and the everyday life of its residents in former times.
The Second World War period is presented, among other things, in an exhibition devoted to Major Julian Zubek of the Home Army (AK), who operated in the Sądecki Beskids. The development of local culture is also shown. A unique part of the collection is a set of more than 300 pieces of old skiing equipment, including skis, bindings, poles and skins, donated to the museum in 1979 by Prof. Zygmunt Bielczyk.
