About the museum
The Museum of the Treasures of the Earth and Sea was established in 2012 out of its owner’s passion for geology, fossils and minerals. The interest arose back at secondary school, from finding a petrified tree in a field during the beet harvest.
According to the museum, the collection numbers more than 3,000 exhibits from around the world: minerals, fossils, shells and fish. They are shown in glazed display cases in two exhibition pavilions beside the Klemens Restaurant. The specimens come, among other sources, from purchases at mineral fairs in Munich, Barcelona and Valencia; the owner also collects rocks and minerals in the mountains of Spain and exchanges specimens with other enthusiasts.
The most valuable exhibits include native gold, crinoids from Western Sahara about 420 million years old, a megalodon tooth, an opal from Ethiopia, a petrified tree with amber flowing out of it from the San River, and a fossilised sea-urchin egg from Roztocze.
