About the museum

The Museum of Military Technology in Tarnowskie Góry was set up in 2021 on the initiative of the Silesian Foundation of Enthusiasts of Military Technology “Garnizon Górnośląski” (Upper Silesian Garrison), which has been active since 2018 and works to protect and restore military technology monuments. The visitor centre at ul. Piaskowa in Zbrosławice opened on 27 August 2022. The site, more than 3.5 ha in area and a former sand pit, was leased to the foundation by the commune.

The collection includes nearly 50 vehicles and devices, including a T-55M tank, an ATS-59G artillery tractor, a 2S1 Goździk self-propelled howitzer, a BWP-1 infantry combat vehicle, armoured personnel carriers, guns and military trucks. The military part of the exhibition is complemented by an aviation exhibition created together with the Museum of Rescue in Kraków as part of the project “Muzeum Polskich Śmigłowców” (“Museum of Polish Helicopters”), which includes Mi-2 helicopters and an An-2 aircraft, among others.

The museum organises an annual Military Picnic in Tarnowskie Góry and co-organises the commune’s finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). Visits are possible on the first Saturday of the month and by telephone arrangement.
