About the museum
The Muzeum Ziemi Błońskiej (Błonie Land Museum) is a local-government institution established by resolution of the Błonie Town Council on 16 November 2015. It is housed in a historic manor-style building from the mid-19th century at al. Norwida. The museum deals with the history of Błonie and the former Błonie County in the context of Polish history.
In May 2018 the permanent exhibition “Błonie – miasto na szlaku” (Błonie – Town on the Trail) was opened. It tells the story of a town whose history was shaped by its location on the main routes linking the lands along the Vistula with the Baltic countries and the areas by the Black Sea. The layout is chronological: from the earliest history and the “Łysa Góra” (Bald Mountain) hillfort, through the Middle Ages, the early modern period and the 19th century, to the interwar period, both world wars and the activity of the Zakłady Mechaniczno-Precyzyjne “Mera Błonie” (Mera Błonie Mechanical-Precision Works).
The exhibition is multimedia: it uses touch screens, sound recordings and films, and alongside original exhibits (documents, photographs, posters, archaeological finds, banners) it shows products of the Błonie factories. In the competition “Mazowieckie Zdarzenia Muzealne – Wierzba” it was recognised as the most interesting exhibition of a small museum organised in Mazovia in 2018. The museum also runs temporary exhibitions, museum lessons and workshops.
