About the museum

The Muzeum Życia Codziennego (Museum of Everyday Life) has operated in Płaza since 2004. Its statute was approved by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and in 2019 the institution was entered in the register of museums kept by the ministry.

The aim of the museum is to show the living conditions in a worker’s house in the area of Chrzanów during the occupation and the PRL, since until now mainly rural homesteads had been presented, for example in open-air museums. The exhibition consists of seven rooms with living interiors and furnishings, and two rooms devoted to the history of the workers’ estate and the lime works in Płaza. In the basement there is a carpentry workshop from 1945–1960.

Most of the exhibits are donations from residents of Płaza and the surrounding area. The museum operates seasonally, from April to October, and welcomes individual tourists and groups. It cooperates with the Muzeum w Chrzanowie (Chrzanów Museum), including in the care of a ring kiln (piec kręgowy) in Płaza.
