Park Etnograficzny w Tokarni

One of Poland’s largest open-air museums: more than 80 historic buildings in six ethnographic sectors of the Kielce region.

Opening hoursAdmission 20 zł Partially accessible

About the museum

The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia is a branch of the Kielce Village Museum (Muzeum Wsi Kieleckiej). The museum was founded in 1976, and visiting began in 1977. The concept was developed by Professor Roman Reinfuss, who wanted to recreate the typical village layouts of several sub-regions of the Kielce land.

The open-air museum covers more than 65 hectares and includes more than 80 historic structures: cottages, barns, windmills, churches and manor houses. The buildings are arranged in six ethnographic sectors: small-town, upland, Świętokrzyski, loess, manor-and-farmstead, and Vistula (nadwiślański).

Visitors learn about past folk architecture, the furnishing of interiors and the everyday life of the region’s villagers. The park also hosts outdoor events, workshops and educational activities.
