About the museum
The Podlaskie Museum of Military and Utility Technology in Bielany-Wąsy, about 9 km from Sokołów Podlaski, grew out of the private collection of Mariusz Murawski, who began to collect military vehicles. In February 2014 he established the Excita Polonia foundation, whose aim is to protect buildings of former military units threatened with devastation after their liquidation, and to search for and restore historic exhibits from the First and Second World Wars.
The foundation established the museum, which collects exhibits related to regional and military history. The collections consist mainly of vehicles and weapons from the Second World War: tanks, armoured personnel carriers, military engineering vehicles, guns and small arms, as well as aircraft and helicopters, radar and training equipment.
Separate sections are devoted to communications technology, with a large collection of radio stations, vehicles from the People’s Republic of Poland era, motorcycles and model-making, and to utility technology: cars and various machines. The foundation cooperates with the Museum of the Polish Army in Warsaw and organises exhibitions and meetings for enthusiasts of militaria and history.
