About the museum
The Salon Muzyczny – Muzeum Feliksa Nowowiejskiego (Music Salon – Feliks Nowowiejski Museum) opened on 7 February 2008, on the 131st anniversary of the composer's birth. It is located on the ground floor of the Willa wśród róż (Villa Among the Roses) on al. Wielkopolska in the Sołacz district of Poznań, where the Nowowiejski family moved in 1929. The composer lived and worked here until 1939, and after returning from the war he died in this house on 18 January 1946. The villa is a historic monument.
The interiors recreate the layout of the rooms from Nowowiejski's time and have kept the interwar decor, furniture and musical instruments. Visitors will also see memorabilia connected with the life and work of the composer, the author of the oratorio “Quo vadis”. The salon is looked after by the Feliks Nowowiejski Society (Towarzystwo im. Feliksa Nowowiejskiego), and its activity is partly financed by the city of Poznań.
The venue serves as an educational, cultural and artistic place: chamber concerts take place here, often with the participation of pupils from Poznań music schools, as well as children's art workshops, museum lessons, music courses and exhibitions devoted to the patron.
