About the museum
The Skansen Miniatur in Pobiedziska opened in May 1998, in the 950th anniversary year of the town. The initiator was the mayor at the time, Krzysztof Wojdanowicz, and some of the models had already been made in 1994. The park was meant to show the spatial layout of the Szlak Piastowski (Piast Trail) and the development of Polish settlement and statehood.
The park contains 37 models of monuments and fragments of town buildings from Greater Poland, made at a scale of 1:20 from durable materials. Visitors can see, among others, the Stary Rynek (Old Market Square) in Poznań, the cathedrals of Poznań and Gniezno, the market square in Pobiedziska, the palaces in Czerniejewo, Rogalin and Lubostroń, the monastery church in Lubiń, and the palatium on Ostrów Lednicki.
The models are complemented by an exhibition of wooden sculptures referring to Slavic mythology, an archaeological sandpit with miniature remains of one of the buildings, and large-format educational games about the Slavs. The facility is managed by the Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji (Sports and Recreation Centre) in Pobiedziska.
