About the museum
The Szkolne Muzeum Motoryzacji (School Museum of Motoring) was founded in the mid-1990s on the initiative of teachers at the Zespół Szkół Samochodowych in Toruń. Its aim was to preserve models and structures of vehicles gathered at the school. Since 1998 the collections have been looked after by Włodzimierz Werner, who develops the museum together with the pupils.
The first vehicle in the collection was a Fiat Topolino from 1937, restored by pupils. The museum occupies an exhibition hall in the school workshops, opened in 2018; some vehicles, mainly passenger cars, are kept in the underground garage of the workshops. Historic vehicles are shown during school ceremonies and events.
